On October 17, 1994, Mirage Resorts announced plans to build the French-themed Beau Rivage resort on the land, at a cost of $700-$900 million. Tahiti Village Resort & Spa
The Spa Tower, finished a year later, added 928 rooms, bringing the resort to its current number. It originally opened with 3,005 rooms, including 401 suites.
